Tim Leach’s commitment to healthcare, education and economic growth in the Permian Basin is evident in his service on boards of Texas colleges, universities, hospitals, and charitable organizations, including The Beacon and the Permian Strategic Partnership. Mr. Leach is Advisor to the Chief Executive Officer at ConocoPhillips and is a member of the ConocoPhillips Board of Directors. Mr. Leach has over 40 years of oil and natural gas industry experience. Prior to joining ConocoPhillips, he served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Concho Resources Inc. from its formation in February 2006 until its acquisition by ConocoPhillips in January 2021. Previously, he led other Permian Basin-focused energy companies, including privately-held predecessors to Concho, and served in various positions with Parker & Parsley, including Executive Vice President.
Mr. Leach serves on the Board of Governors for Midland Memorial Foundation, on the Board of Directors for The Scharbauer Foundation, on The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center Board of Visitors, on the Advisory Board of the Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute, and as a Board member and Executive Committee member of the Permian Strategic Partnership. Mr. Leach served as an appointed member of the Texas A&M University System Board of Regents from 2017 to 2023, serving as Chairman from 2021 to 2023. Mr. Leach has previously served on the Board of Directors of The Association of Former Students of Texas A&M and on the Board of Directors for Midland College Foundation. He is also an Emeritus Council Member of Texas A&M University’s Engineering Advisory Council. Mr. Leach is a recipient of The Association of Former Students 2020 Distinguished Alumnus Award, the 2017 Texas Oil and Gas Association (TXOGA) Distinguished Service Award, and the 2011 “Top Hand Award” from the Permian Basin Petroleum Association. Mr. Leach was inducted into the Petroleum Museum Hall of Fame in 2013.
He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University in 1982, and a Master of Business Administration degree from The University of Texas Permian Basin in 1984.
